Summary, etc. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wurde die Parasitenfauna des Europäischen Aals (Anguilla anguilla) im Rheinsystem untersucht. Dabei konnte erstmals der Einfluss der Beseitigung einer biogeographischen Barriere (Die Eröffnung des Rhein-Main-Donau-Kanals) auf die Diversität der intestinalen Darmhelminthengemeinschaft nachgewiesen werden.Die Arbeit beleuchtet zusätzlich zahlreiche weitere ökologische Aspekte der Aalparasitozönose im Rheinsystem.
