| Summary, etc. | O Direito Internacional Humanitário surgiu em 1864, ou seja, há mais de século e meio, com o objetivo de humanizar a guerra e evitar sofrimentos desnecessários nesse contexto. Mas os conflitos armados têm sofrido modificações importantes, assim como os meios de combate têm tido grandes desenvolvimentos, o que exige uma adaptação deste ramo do direito internacional, que vem sendo feita em larga medida por iniciativa do Comité Internacional da Cruz Vermelha, mas também da ONU e de outras instituições internacionais. Nesta obra compilam-se os principais documentos do Direito Internacional Humanitário. |
