| Summary, etc. | Estigma é definido como um atributo negativo ou depreciativo, que torna o sujeito diferente, diminuído ou possuidor de uma desvantagem. Mas o problema vai além: o estigma é também um dos processos sociais que reduzem o acesso à saúde por parte dos indivíduos e grupos afetados. No caso da Aids e do sofrimento mental, o estigma é, reconhecidamente, um dos maiores empecilhos aos avanços das políticas e ações que buscam garantir os direitos de seus portadores à dignidade e à cidadania.
