| Summary, etc. | A Guide to the African human rights system has been conceived as an accessible and informative introduction to the human rights system established under the auspices of the African Union (AU). This Guide provides an overview of developments related to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, its supervisory body, the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, as well as the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child and its supervisory body, the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child. It is launched on 2 November 2017, commemorating the date, 30 years earlier, on which the African Commission was inaugurated. The Guide aims to both chart the most salient historical developments and provide an accessible introduction to the African human rights system, and is continuously revised. The Centre for Human Rights is both an academic department and a non-governmental organisation (NGO) accorded observer status with the African Commission. The Centre teaches academic programmes and engages in research, advocacy and training on human rights, with a specific focus on Africa. Its flagship programmes are the Master’s in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa and the African Human Rights Moot Court Competition. Mwongozo huuunatoa muhtasari wa maendeleo yanayohusu Mkataba wa Afrika wa Haki za Binadamuna Watu, chombo chake cha usimamizi, Tume ya Afrika ya Haki za Binadamu na Watu,Mahakama ya Afrika ya Haki za Binadamu na Watu, na Mkataba wa Haki na Ustawiwa Mtoto na chombo chake cha usimamizi, Kamati ya Afrika ya Wataalam wa Hakina Ustawi wa Mtoto. Toleo hili la Mwongozo lilizinduliwa tarehe 27 Juni 1981, kwakuadhimisha miaka 40 iliyopita, ambapo Mkataba wa Afrika ulipitishwa. Pia, mwaka2021 ni mwaka wa 15 tangu Mahakama ya Afrika ianze kufanya kazi. Mwongozo unalenga kuonyesha matukio muhimu ya maendeleo ya kihistoria na kutoautangulizi wa mfumo wa Afrika wa haki za binadamu, unaopatikana na unaoendeleakurejewa kila wakati. Mwongozo umeandaliwa na Kituo cha Haki za Binadamu, Kitivocha Sheria, Chuo Kikuu cha Pretoria kikishirikiana na Tume ya Afrika. Matoleo mawiliya Mwongozo yalitolewa mwaka 2011 na 2017. Kituo cha Haki za Binadamu, ambacho mwaka 2021 kinasheherekea miaka 35 tangukuanzishwa kwake mwaka 1986, ni idara ya kitaaluma na pia ni Shirika Lisilo laKiserikali. Kituo kina hadhi ya uangalizi katika Tume ya Afrika. Kituo kinatoa programuza kitaaluma na kinashiriki katika utafi ti, utetezi na mafunzo ya haki za binadamu,kikilenga zaidi Afrika.
